This evening sky tells a story about movement. My process begins with a photograph taken on a walk through my local land preserve. Looking upward I found a large, bold, and majestic picture in an otherwise ordinary winter evening. Back in my home studio, I enjoy the repetitive motion of my brush on the canvas while painting cloud forms both small and large. Vibrant color and pattern inform the direction of the painting- the fragmented bits of cloud reflect the wandering yet deliberate pattern of my own footsteps, while rich blue planes and streaks of warm yellow speak to my equal senses of excitement and awe. While the piece expresses my personal perspective of spending time in the outdoors, I hope that it invites the viewer into my practice and into a collective practice of both art and movement.
