On Sunday, October 9, Aston Mills Arts held its Open House and celebrated the inauguration of new first-floor studios with a ribbon-cutting event. The grand event brought together bought studio founders – several of whom are returning as artists to the space – as well as current studio residents and newly joined members.

In her remarks, president Veronica Batter said, “I’m filled with gratitude for the love and support that brought a fresh chapter to our art studios. I honor our past by dedicating this space to the founders of the former Heron and Heron Crest Studios: Mary Gordon, Lorri Primavera, Marion Kassab, Heidi Hammel and Claire Brill. Aston Mills Arts carries on the tradition of providing space for artists and sharing their talents with the Delaware County community.”

Following the cutting, guests explored the new spaces, enjoyed coffee and conversation, and viewed historical photographs from the days when the building was a working textile mill. Nearly 100 members of the public visited Aston Mills Arts on October 9 – many of whom walked home with new art works and artisanal products to enjoy. With studios for 30 artists of all kinds – including painters, sculptors, potters, fabric, and mixed-media artisans – Aston Mills Arts is becoming a thriving center for fine art in Delaware County.

Aston Mills Arts will be open for its Annual Art Show & Sale on the weekends of November 12-13 and November 19-20, from 11am to 5pm each day. The studios are located at 3100 Mount Road, Aston, PA 19014.
